Blasters place fifth in world series

The Indiana Blasters 12U fastpitch softball team from Newburgh recently placed fifth at the USSSA World Series, held at Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., July 24 through 31. The Blasters also received the Sportsmanship Award, given by the USSSA to one team in the field of 36.

Georgia's A.J. Green suspended for 4 games

Georgia star receiver A.J. Green was suspended by the NCAA for four games on Wednesday for selling a bowl jersey for $1,000 to someone who qualifies as an agent. Green sold his jersey from last season's Independence Bowl. The junior, who sat out the season-opening 55-7 victory over Louisiana-Lafayette, must miss three more games before regaining his eligibility, according to the ruling from the...
